What We've Lost
Words will never be capable of expressing the deep, raw emotions that live inside us,
although we try to use them to express ourselves, they always fall short.
Very few people will ever truly understand the pain of such loss,
nor do we desire them to.
It's strange that one can be filled with so many emotions,
yet so void of words.
A heart, mind and soul so jumbled, things screaming to be let out,
only to remain mute when given the chance.
People say loss gets easier with time,
we're still waiting on that to happen.
Time heals all pain...he's in a better place,
He finished his purpose here on earth...God must have needed him in heaven,
how many times have we heard all these things said by people meaning well, who try and make sense of or justify what can never be made "right".
What we've lost goes far beyond just losing you--our person.
Our coworker, our friend, our grandson, our brother or our son.
We grieve you and your presence.
We miss your laugh, your smile, your dimples.
You must understand that we lost so much more than just you---we lost the present and future we should have had.
And what are we supposed to do with that?
What we've lost can never be made right.
It will never be "ok".
Sure, life goes on.
We're carried along with the current.
What choice do we have other than to stay afloat or drown?
And I ask again, what are we supposed to do with that?
What are we supposed to do with what we've lost.
